Annette Funicello, an American actress and singer. Her most famous role was as one of Mickey Mouse Club's "Mouseketeers". When she was a teen, she began her career as a singer and was renowned for her smash hits "Tall Paul" and "Pineapple Princess.' Annette was born in Utica with parents who were Italian immigrants. Her shyness was evident as when she was a child. Annette hoped to make a career as an entertainer. She began to dance and acting. The mid-1950s saw her appeared in several 'Disney' sketches as part of one the "Mouseketeers" which earned her considerable popularity. Annette removed her Disney image as an adult and began to take on roles for adults. The most recognizable role she played was as the pioneer of the genre of beach parties. She appeared on films including 'How to Stuff a Unruly Bikini.' Pajama Party.' and Beach Party. She continued to make music albums.
